About Jersey Pearl
Jersey Pearl first opened its doors to the public as the UK’s largest dedicated pearl showroom on the 5th of May 1985.
Jersey Pearl was created by Fred Scragg, his son Mike Scragg and son in law John Taylor; they’ve overseen the business for nearly 25 years keeping Jersey Pearl a true family company. Fred had seen that Jersey Pearl could take advantage of the island’s tax free status to let visitors learn about pearls, shop from a huge range of jewellery and buy something beautiful without having to pay VAT. His idea worked and many happy visitors have found that they can visit the showroom and take home a thorough understanding about pearls as well as some lovely jewellery.

The family have since used the Jersey Pearl experience to create successful pearl showrooms across the UK and further afield including centres in Gran Canaria, Majorca and Tenerife, which together have formed the World Pearl Group. This proved that our customers still want to learn about pearls and take advantage of a huge range of jewellery, even when it’s not tax free.
Over the years we’ve offered everything from decadent pieces worth tens of thousands of pounds to synthetic, fashion pearl jewellery for less than twenty pounds and everything in between. During this time we’ve had the great fortune of gathering a dedicated team of people who, with the help of contacts within the industry and educational bodies such as the GIA, have developed a huge bank of pearl knowledge.

As we’ve learned more about pearls we’ve grown to truly appreciate the amazing quality and variety that’s available. We want to share this appreciation and spread our love for pearls as far as we can. We’ve come up with a plan to inform the public about pearls and their relationship with the environment. Our plan to help clear up some common misconceptions about pearls comes in the form of our assurance to our customers that all the pearls used in our jewellery are real pearls, that have never been dyed and that are CarbonNeutral®.
We’ve also created our own range of Jersey Pearl jewellery which you can find on this website as well as some of the nicest shops across the country. And last but certainly not least, we’re giving you the chance to create your own pearl jewellery with the help of our online stringing room where you can design whatever takes your fancy which we’ll then string up and send straight to your home.
