Our Community Involvement

As we have grown, we have set about creating positive social impact – or as we like to put it, ‘taking our world of wonderful into the community’. We believe in doing business that helps build the future, wherever we see the need and can help. We’re always inspired by our founder, Fred, who achieved so much by thinking creatively, with unwavering passion. So, when there are opportunities to get involved in a local project, or to help someone out, we like to roll up our sleeves and get stuck in.

What kinds of community work do we do?

Over the years, we’ve worked with a number of different organisations where we’ve seen an opportunity to contribute positively to the wider community or a great cause. Here’s a selection from the last few years:

Blue Gorilla statues

2019 - Jersey Zoo

We partnered with ‘Go Wild Gorillas’ – a public art trail organised in partnership with Wild in Art, consisting of 40 brightly coloured, artist imagined, life-size gorilla sculptures, placed across Jersey. This large scale community project unites art and conservation to help raise funds for Durrell, in particular a state of the art gorilla house at Jersey Zoo. The aim of this project is to encourage more people to get outdoors and reconnect with nature, to create a wilder, healthier and more colourful world for future generations.

2019 - Friends of Special Care Baby Unit

We made a Tassel bracelet in special pink and blue colours, donating £5 from each sale to support Jersey’s Friends of Special Care Baby Unit. This charity was formed by a group of Jersey parents whose babies spent their first days in specialist neo-natal care. Today, their incredible work routinely saves the lives of sick and premature babies, and vital funds are needed to keep it going.

Red Nose day team

2019 - Comic Relief

We love a good excuse to dress casually, so this year for Comic Relief we decided to wear our pyjamas to work, for the ultimate dress down day! Comic Relief is an amazing charity that supports vulnerable people and communities in the UK and internationally, working towards a world free from poverty. Well, we’re all about a world of wonderful, so we love raising money for this great cause and donated £1 for every slice of cake sold in the Jersey Pearl Café & Terrace.

2018 - Shelter Trust, Jersey

Another of our endeavours supported the work of the Shelter Trust for the Homeless in Jersey. Every year, the Shelter holds a fundraising Soup Kitchen in St Helier’s Royal Square. People love to contribute in any way they can, and the enthusiasm was infectious with more than 40 different soups on offer! The Jersey Pearl Café team joined right in, offering up delicious and nutritious Hungarian broth.

Macmillan Cancer Suport logo

2018 - Macmillan

Macmillan does important work providing support to people affected by cancer, whether directly through sickness or indirectly through being the relative or carer of a person with cancer. In recognition of this, we wanted to make something truly special, so we turned our Tassel bracelet Macmillan green and donated £5 from the sale of each one to the charity. The bracelet proved to be a really popular way for people to show their support, and a wonderful way for everyone on Jersey to get involved in the wider Macmillan community on the island.

2017 - White Lodge Centre, Surrey

In 2017, we got involved with the White Lodge Centre in Chertsey, Surrey, which supports children and adults with disabilities. The centre plays an important role in the lives of many in the local community, but costs more than £2.5 million every year to run. We offered to help renovate their 2000 Sq. Ft garden to make an accessible space that included sensory experiences, such as different textures, shapes and scents, that people with disabilities could enjoy.
