Valley Adventure Centre

The Adventure Centre is a popular destination as it’s set in the jaw-dropping surroundings of a natural valley in St Brelade’s, and absolutely redefines ‘getting some fresh air’. The Centre runs numerous activities including aerial trekking, powerfan, zip wire, archery, bushcraft, swimming, abseiling, laser combat and paintball – so it’s a great way to let kids try various things out and see what they most enjoy. A summer adventure camp caters for the busy holiday period, letting you pre-book activities whether for a day or a week.

Jersey Zoo

We really feel that a trip to Jersey isn’t complete without a visit to our famous zoo. It’s a completely unforgettable experience and an absolute treat for very young children, because there are lots of opportunities to meet and interact with the animals. The zoo was founded by Gerald Durrell – the author and naturalist – in 1959, who has recently been the subject of a Netflix series that captures the magic of his upbringing on the Greek island of Corfu. A conservationist at heart, Durrell wanted people to be able to understand animals better, and this spirit is still very much in evidence at the zoo. As well as visiting the zoo’s inhabitants, various ‘animal experiences’ let children find out what it’s like to be a zookeeper for the day, or how to get close to lemurs and bats. This is the stuff that lasting and wonderful memories are made from and a rare chance to get to know the animals themselves. For an immersive experience, you can glamp at Jersey Zoo, sleeping just a stone’s throw away from your favourite animals; there’s nothing cooler than this for little nature fans!

Water and Watersports image

Water and Watersports

The water that surrounds Jersey is a source of endless enjoyment for children. Watersports enthusiasts have been coming to Jersey for years, lured by the many options available, such as paddle-boarding, kayaking and jet skiing. Jersey’s waters are also home to dolphins and seals, and offshore reefs and rockpools that are teaming with life. It’s one of the few places that offers so much intriguing wildlife in a comparatively small area – so it’s an ideal destination for little explorers. For more ardent nautical adventurers and those who fancy a spot of island-hopping, Jersey is the perfect place from which to visit the tiny island groupings of Les Ecrehous or Les Minquiers. Whether it’s a leisurely cruise around the islands, a surfing session or seeing what kind of creatures live on the coast, Jersey simply excels.

Insider opinion:

An abundance of choice from active to relaxing, for children of all ages.
