Sustainability

Our flagship showroom, which overlooks the sandy beaches of St Ouen Bay, reflects our deep connection to the ocean and the land that surrounds us. Our love for pearls extends beyond creating beautiful jewellery — we are dedicated to protecting the delicate ecosystems where our pearls grow.

Next targets on our sustainability journey:
Replacing all polythene bags to reduce impact on the environment
Aiming to use recycled metal in all our jewellery

Protecting our world

Did you know that it’s impossible to farm pearls without taking responsibility for the quality and health of the environment? All pearl oysters need clean, pH-neutral, pollution-free water maintained at a consistent temperature free from contamination.

This well-cared-for clean water has other benefits too; it helps new areas of biodiversity flourish and creates some truly incredible areas of natural beauty.

Because oysters are such sensitive creatures, pearl farmers go to great lengths to protect the environment surrounding them. They own not only their pearl farm but also the surrounding land to ensure that pollutants do not contaminate the farm waters.

In areas where dynamite or cyanide fishing is still common, farmers deploy armed patrol boats to prevent these toxic and harmful practices from entering the water and impacting marine life.

Pearl farmers say that you can always see the quality and constituents of the water in a pearl; nature’s handwriting never lies. Our pearls are ‘organic carbon-neutral gems’, and a healthy environment is essential in producing them.

Our Packaging

Over recent years, we’ve taken great care to reduce our carbon footprint. A big part of this has been reducing our packaging size and making it recyclable.

Our packaging…is made from 100% recycled and recyclable paper.  We proactively promote the use of our organic cotton plastic-free pouch that comes as standard with all our pearls.

Our gift boxes…have been redesigned size wise so there is less volume to transport back to us in Jersey and, therefore, a reduction in energy being used for production and shipping.

Our in-store carrier bags…are made from 100% recyclable paper with an organic cotton ribbon – just remove the ribbon before recycling. It makes a lovely hair tie or bow for a present!

Our new postal boxes…for online orders are smaller and made from 100% recycled & recyclable paper. Which means the whole thing can go into the recycling bin.

Jewellery Materials

We have made an exciting change to a lot of our jewellery, including our best-selling Tassel bracelets, which now have colourful thread made from 100% recycled plastic bottles.

On average, 300m of our colourful thread is made from just one recycled plastic bottle, making waste a great new source of material for us to use. One recycled plastic bottle makes 87 bracelets!

You can find this eco thread in our Tassel, Hoop and Lisa Le Brocq bracelets.

jewellery lifespan

Our product team is dedicated to continuous improvement—designing, testing, and refining our jewellery to extend its lifespan and reduce unnecessary waste. Sustainability is a journey we’re fully committed to, and that includes helping our customers care for their pieces properly. By promoting mindful maintenance, we ensure each piece can be enjoyed for many years. Learn more and explore our pearl care tips here.

Product Testing and Quality Control

We want our jewellery to be enjoyed for years to come, which is why all the materials we use undergo stringent in-house quality control. This means we go the extra mile and invest in our metals; for example, our sterling silver jewellery is coated in rhodium, rose gold, or yellow gold, providing extra strength and longevity.

Ethical Practices

We are proud of the careful relationships and choices we have made over the years to select the most ethical farmers and suppliers.

People Responsibility

All our pearl farmers have a people-first attitude and share our values.  We’re the only pearl jewellery brand to buy directly from pearl farmers and use CarbonNeutral® pearls.

We enjoy visiting our suppliers and farms all over the world. Above is our founder, Angie, at a Pearl Farm in Asia.

Ethical Sourcing

Jersey is known for its stunning Mother of Pearl ormer shells, and we are delighted to have a collection of sustainably sourced ormer jewellery for our customers to enjoy.

We source our ormers from trusted local collectors, such as Trevor Le Cornu, a third-generation Jersey ormerer. It took three years of design development and technical investigation to adapt the incredibly fragile ormer shell for jewellery.

Our Carbon Footprint

Climate change threatens pearl farming, which is why we work with Natural Capital Partners to offset the carbon footprint of our jewellery, packaging and shipping by helping fund green energy projects.

We are proud to be a certified CarbonNeutral® pearl jewellery brand, read more about what we are supporting right now here.
